Thrive: Fun Science Communication


Thrive is a free, open-source game about the evolution of life. Our all volunteer team seeks to accomplish two major goals: create engaging, compelling gameplay that respects our players’ intelligence, and remain as accurate as possible in our depiction of known scientific theory without compromising the former.

In our latest release 0.4.2 we switched graphics engines from Ogre to bs::framework. Which we hope will allow us to make more impressive graphics. And also hopefully with the directx support we’ll be able to support even older intel graphics (Ogre with OpenGL really did not like anything as old or older than intel HD 4000). Though this has yet to materialize:

I’m not expecting that showcasing Thrive here will lead to a bunch of new people helping us make the game, but just in case I’ll include our marketing pitch:
